Should the world switch to driving on the left or the right?

Driving on the left would mean having the steering wheel on the right, having the passenger seat on the left, when turning left there's no need wait for a traffic light. Driving on the right is the opposite. Majority of the world drives on the right (following the French) while nearly all Commonwealth countries and a few other countries drive on the left. From what some people have observed, driving on the left is safer, but driving on the right was the tradition when people used horse carriages. USA: Right (but historically, they actually drove on the left) Australia: Left England: Left France: Right New Zealand: Left Canada: Right Japan: Left China: Right India: Left

It doesn't matter there is not difference between safety if everything is done backwards and whats the point of having to teach everyone how to drive again, get rid of all left sided cars... millions of dollars in the trash and put us in more debt ... get my point?

[/quote] Exactly. You can't change the fact that millions and millions of cars have already been made for both styles. To change everybody to one style would require a massive, tremendous, and outrageous amount of cashburning.

they only drive on the left because of precedents set by medieval knights during jousting contests (ride on the left side because most were right handed)

I don't think it should change at all since it would require a revamp of all the road signs, and not everyone will easily convert to driving on the other side therefore increasing the chance of accidents. It seems like a complete waste of money.
