Do song remixes ruin the original?

What do you guys think of song remixes? Sometimes I like them and sometimes I don't. Here's an example of what I mean: Johnny Cash - Country Boy Johnny Cash - Country Boy remix by Sonny J Feel free to post your own songs. Edit: Ugh...has youtube's default audio gotten less loud? I feel like I have to crank my speakers so much now...

However, the Living Dead Girl and Zombie 13 remixes were amazing to say the least. CowWhiskers - I've been addicted to Pursuit of Happiness ever since they used it as the theme for Radio MaliBoom Boom. Same goes for New Soul when they used it for the MacBook Air commercials. Interesting original. Thanks for posting it.

Original. Remix. Some remixes are better, some aren't. It all depends on the one listening

I'm talking the remix that was on one of the Big Shiny Tunes's. The techno (Future Evolution) remix of Dig (Mudvayne), and Cloud Connected (In Flames) are also very good.

Rap remixes never seem to amuse me. It always seems like they do it because they can't come up with anything new and/or original at the time and just want to ride someone else's coattails until they do. AznKasaKi - Game music is supposed to change. To keep any series going, you have to keep originals intact, but with subtle yet distinct new features to recapture what they were originally created for. I like remixes that completely change the sound of a song and make them into a totally new song and give them new meaning. Give these a listen: Love Bites Original Love Bites Remix Edit: Sorry, had the wrong song in mind. Now it's fixed.

atomica12 - that might be one of the weirdest cross-genre mixes I've ever heard! XD KhristianKid - I give Dubstep credit as he has a knack for remixing. I've a bunch of his stuff and it's usually pretty nice. Pookiemookie - I've never heard the original, but this version sounded neat although someone needs to speed it up.
