I don't understand why people can't play a card game how it was made, and have to come up with these ridiculous ban lists.

It gets rid of First Turn Kill decks and mixes things up every format so one type of deck doesn't top everything else.

[/quote] The makers of the game cannot possibly anticipate every possible combination of cards. Players, however, tend to notice the combinations that end up broken. Therefore, the players ban broken combinations because they usually make the metagame limited to two or three decks, and if you don't use one of them, you lose. Doesn't matter how skilled you are. This applies to any game in which two human players can play against each other (which makes the game competitive in that sense). Everything from card games to Super Smash Brothers to FPSes. Card games tend to get bans more often than video games mainly due to the fact that video games usually have limited options, while a card game is ever expanding.
