Dual 1GB GDDR5 ATI Radeon� HD 5670 CrossfireX� Enabled vs Single 1GB GDDR5 ATI Radeon� HD 5870 Which would last me longer and which would be better. I'll might playing games more graphic intense than codmw2 and I want it to last me a few years so when technology advances more, I won't have to upgrade as soon. I was thinking the 5870 because it is a newer model and I might not need the extra 1gb. What would 2gb be good for? I decided to build my own pc which is why I want to know. Thanks in advance

5770 in Crossfire is almost as powerful as a 5870.

A single 5850 will also be better than a xFire 5670 as well. Edit: Might as well as tell us what's the other components you planned on using in your build, so we can have it all in one thread. That is if you haven't got it all planned out already.

5870 would top the dual 5670s. Not all games get a good boost from xfire, and for some it might not work at all. If anything to future proof your build you can always xfire the 5870 down the road when the single's performance doesn't cut it anymore, and it should be cheaper, depending on if amd/ati releases the 6xxx series.

If I remember correctly, HD 5870 > HD 5850 > HD5670 Crossfire = HD 5770

I'd go with GTX 460s in SLI over the 5870. Its usually cheaper ($199x2 when on sale) and outperforms the GTX 480 . Scaling with 2 GTX460s is ridiculously good

In the long run, it is always better to get a single gpu solution, so you can crossfire in the future.

5870 is a superior card. Runs all games at high settings. My rig... i7 920 @ 3.5 GHz 6GB RAM ATI 5870 1GB 500GB Hard Drive
