Hey i was wondering if the DELL Studio XPS 8100 is a good computer(for gaming). I increased the processor to a i7-860 2.8GHZ and the rest of the specs are the same. THanks =D

Get the XPS 9000. I have one that I got last April and it's awesome. I have the i7 920, 6GB RAM, and I think there's like a GTX 260 or something in there. Whatever, it's really nice

Hmm, if you build it yourself, you could get like an i5 750, a HD5830-HD5850, 4GB DDR3 RAM, a 22" monitor, and a razor mouse keyboard for around $1500 AUD, IIRC from the last build I'd spec for someone in Australia. Not sure if that's the best price there, as I was only spec-ing out a site that the TS gave me, but it would be for gaming than the one you are considering. For about $100, you could get that i7 860 if you want for the same price as the first Dell on there, but it has the monitor with it. If you are patient to learn how to do so, I'll suggest you build it yourself. It's not exactly hard to do.
oWnAgEr : The default one is a gefore gts 240
I presume, then, that this is the specific product to which you refer. I would recommend taking your business elsewhere; Newegg offers identical components for nearly three-fourths the asking price of Dell. Otherwise, yes, the GTS 240 would suffice for most first-person shooters, although it may be obsolete before long, the GTX 400 series being the new standard.
It will take a pretty while before manufacturers actually start using those 400 series GPUs in their systems. And probably won't be significantly better, since they'll replace that GTS240 with a slightly better 400 series GPU and charge you more for it.
ThePepsi : Pretty sure you can get an i7 in there. Easily.
-shrugs- Maybe so, but I was limited to the site that he given me (asking them to put it together for him). For the build I'd helped with, it wasn't quite as easy, as the guy wanted a keyboard/mouse that cost $80 together and a 22" or 24" monitor that cost $250, while all of his other components will cost up to around $1150 without the OS from what I'd remember (i5-750 - $250 [$195 here]; 5850 - $350 [cheapest one]; 4GB DDR3 - 130 [cheapest one]; HDD - 90; Case - $100; OD - $30; PSU - forgot, but $80-$100?, and mobo - $110). I could skimmed down his monitor choice and such, but that will be to include the OS. Or just toss out the keyboard/mouse altogether. Of course, the point I was trying to make was that the TS could get a system with a monitor that would be better for him at the same price and gave him an example of it - not what he could have gotten instead (which I believe the guy I helped with end up getting a PII x4 instead with the help of OCN. But I think he got a more expensive case from the one I recommended...). Let's wait until the TS decision before going more into it.
