The right graphics card for the job

So, I've finally gotten my computer. It's an ASUS gaming computer. http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/pp138/NightHawkXi/ComputerSpecs.jpg those are the current specifications, and my current graphics card is integrated. Now, I know that integrated cards are generally not good, but I'd like a rating, also, a recommendation. I want a graphics card that can handle MW2, APB, and Global Agenda, but my price range is along the liens of $100 - $150. Can you guys help me?

im not that good with specs , but comparing ur computer to my laptop, its seems to be alot better. and my laptop can run some games smoothly , so im not sure if u really need a new graphics card to run those games. you can also try download the demo for cod? see if that runs efficiently and take it from there (Y)

[/quote] No idea what the amperage is and how I'd find it. Size of my case? Product Height 18.1" Product Width 7.9" Product Weight 23.9 lbs. Product Depth 21"

You could get an HD 4850 or 9800GT/GTS 250 for about $100. They should be able to run the games you listed on high settings. However, these cards don't have support for DX11. For about $120, you should be able to get the HD 5750. It has roughly the same performance as the HD 4850/9800GT/GTS250 cards, except it has DX11. For about $150, you should be able to get the HD 5770. Best card for the money at the moment IMO. It should be able to run all current games and many future games at near-max settings. (unless you use a very-high resolution)

For your price, 5770. Your next closest bet is the GTX 460 at 200 bucks If you really want to max out your games at that resolution, at least a GTX470/5850. A 5770 isn't going to cut it at 1920x1080 and I don't believe in buying a graphics card just so you can play a few games

Uninstall drivers, shut down unplug, open up, stick it in there, Plug in and turn on and install drivers? ALSO, my current is integrated, does that mean it can come out? Do I need to take that one out? And can I get a link to the former graphics card?

You could take it out, but that would also mean you'd take out the processor. And I don't quite understand what you mean with linking, but if you place a new graphics card into your computer, it should automatically switch to that one. though you could technically toggle between the two depending on your performance needs (which is something quite often done in notebooks) and can be useful for keeping powerdraw low.

Its not hard.. All you do is take the card that you buy, and put it in your expansion slot. When doing it, do it gently so that it sits in comfortably.. If you try to ram it in, it'll break, and good bye graphics card.

I imagine there must be tons of videos on YouTube showing how to replace a video card. A quick session with their Search bar would probably turn up a lot. If you're talking about a link to show you the capabilities of the current integrated video chipset, you might be able to locate that info on the computer manufacturer's web site. Often they'll have detailed specifications for the computers, hopefully including details on the integrated video. Or at least enough to identify the chipset so you could look it up somewhere else. Also the detailed specifications would probably include information about the "slots" available in the computer (to be sure you buy the right kind of card as a replacement) and possibly even the power supply specifications like Skye asked about.

IMO not really a gaming computer if it comes with integrated graphics. The unit has a 400w psu. Being an OEM, its a gamble on whether or not it is from a good OEM, whether it has the sufficient 12V+ rails, and whether it has the required 6-pin PCI-e connector needed for most modern med-high end graphics cards. Suggestions: 5770 (may be pushing it a bit, you may want to check the PSU amperage and quality), 5750, or a GT 240.

How about a HD5670? It has a 400W requirement but should run fine on your system.

A GPU with a low PSU requirement would be a GT 240.. If the GPU is 400W, you may be able to get a 5770 in there. Probably not, though. If it has integrated graphics, i don't see how it could be considered a gaming computer. There are a few cards better than the 5770 though. Ati Radeon 4870, 4890, and the GTX 260 are all better than the 5770. (Doesn't cost much more either) If you want to be safe, i'd say 8800GT or a GT240
