Okay, so what's with my two computers?

There's a weird deal going on with my laptop and my desktop in the other room. I'd word it like this: My laptop is faster, but it's like my desktop can handle more. For example, my computer starts up and opens windows faster than my desktop. But my desktop can run things faster. iderno. The most common situation that I think of is flash games. My desktop can run these faster than my laptop. Whenever my laptop runs certain flash games, it's at a much lower FPS than my desktop. Also there's a game called Sugar Rush (pretty old game) that my desktop could run faster. So what's up? Is this possible? I mean, it's really weird. If you were to turn on my laptop and desktop, log into a Windows user, and maybe open Firefox or something, my desktop would take like fifteen minutes (I'm being serious) to do all this while my laptop would take like three or two. Maybe my laptop can run things much faster if I did something? Anyways, I'll check back on this thread tomorrow. Thanks in advance for posting.

Back when I was a noob, one of my Pentium 4s was the fastest thing in the world - 45 seconds bootup. It became a snail 3 months later; bootup took 3 minutes. 2 years later, 5 minutes. Then I got a trojan and had to reformat it. It became the fastest thing in the world again. ;) That's my story for you.

As far as comparing graphics games speed, what are the VIDEO CARDS in the two computers..? That's what usually have the greatest impact on how "fast" a system can display graphics. Unfortunately, many laptops don't have really optimal graphics sub-systems in them, while a desktop is a lot easier to upgrade (or build in, in the first place) the graphics capability. The hard drive and CPU in the laptop may be faster (or newer) which would account for faster startup, but the CPU doesn't affect games as much as the graphics system (video card). Do this, on each one: Start-->Run (or whatever your Windows version does to get a CMD prompt) --> dxdiag When the dxdiag window opens, click the display tab and post the "Name" shown on the left hand side. That'll tell what video card each one has in it.
