Whether it's good or not is up to you. Personally, it's good enough for me, but you would need to expand on what you going to be doing on it, so we can tell if it is for you. Edit: Above: You are making it sound like the i3 laptop can only do as much as a netbook...

i3 laptops are decent enough. If you want to play games like maple, mabinogi and other MMORPG's on it and nothing more, it'll do nicely.

Not everybody is a gamer, and I'm pretty sure an i3 will do more then just "quick browsing" and "watching videos". Edit: For the price and since you are in Canada, then yes, it's "worth" it. I did asked you what you are going to be doing on it though. Like if you are a gamer, you would want to spend a little more on a laptop with a Dedicated GPU (gaming as in MW2 - not MS).

There's not much else that it can do that a netbook can't. He asked if it was good. I would say it's hardly even comparable to laptops you can get for $100 or $200 more. Actually, it's worse than my netbook. My netbook can game on Call of Duty 4 and Left 4 Dead.

Thing is, does he need it? And does it fit into his budget? If $600 is his budget, he really can't get anything better, unless he want to go to the refurbished route. [/quote] "Good" is subjective ; whats "good" for you probably "sucks ass" for someone else. For example, the GT 240 is quite weak IMHO, and is not something I would EVER put in a desktop. Lastly, no one cares what you can do on your $500+ netbook.
