mrbasilBid increments I've changed the way that bidding works for Selling auctions. Previously the bid increment was 1000. Now that increment changes depending on the current bid for the item. For example, if the current bid is below 50k mesos, the increment is 1k. If the bid is 250,000, the increment is 5k, meaning you would have to bid 255k, 260k, etc. Here is the breakdown: 50,000 -> 1,000 100,000 -> 2,500 250,000 -> 5,000 500,000 -> 10,000 1,000,000 -> 25,000 3,000,000 -> 50,000 6,000,000 -> 125,000 10,000,000 -> 250,000 Some of you will think this is harsh, others will appreciate. Please give it time before complaining too much. I've received lots of complaints about the 1k bid feature, so hopefully this kills all the sillyness. If you think this isn't enough, then bid higher! The bid increments are just a guide -- just because the bid increment is 10k, doesn't mean you can't bid 50k more to destroy your bidding opponents chances of winning that lovely scrolled mace. Reports The other complaint about the site is all the bad bids/auctions. So I've tried to make it even easier to report these bids/auctions by creating a 'Report' feature. You'll see it in the top menu just before 'MAIL'. On any auction page where you see a bad bid or auction, just click 'REPORT' and the url will be auto-filled in. Give a short description of what you think is wrong with the auction and I'll have a look at it. I appreciate everyone's help in finding these bad auctions/bids. We've gotten rid of many bad users because of your help. Hopefully this new feature will make it even easier to report idiocy. Thanks everyone for making BasilMarket the best MS Auction site on the web! <8D

Mr Basil I've never seen anyone more dedicated to making an awesome non pay site. I'd hire you to do web design for me.

pwnage, MrBasil is the master, seriously. I haven't seen one bad rule youve made.

If the bid increasement is a rule, then its just plain stupid. I mean, when I bid, when I buy, I want to be exact. I'm on a budjet, I don't want to make bad deals and end up broke. It feels you would be in some kind of dictatorship, and you MUST bid as the bid increase says. I think its very annoying that it is automatically changed, then just a plain 1k. I mean if its so annoying with the 1k system, then why don't you just type in the number you want to bid, plain and simple. I don't see whats so much to complain about that. Today I was bidding, and I didn't notice this. And whoppie, I just threw 20k into thin air, while I could have won with a simple 1k. That just feels great doesn't it. Anyway, I like the job you've done on this site, and I'm amazed that you when down in the first place to do this whole site, code and make all things click. As a side topic, I've seen alot of "bad"/bad auctions, like a yellow banadan that only exist in korean and w/e version, or even GM weapons. Why are they there in the first place, if you just can't get em, no-one has em and just can't buy em. Okey lets just break this down, I'm asuming that the biding system now is a rule.. Someone is selling steelys, so its on 10mil now. And all of a sudden 3 ppl bids and its on a whoopying 11.5mill. Now who would want to bid again? Would you pay 12mill for steelys? I don't think so, since the price is around 10mill.

mrbasilI appreciate what you're saying, fargos. I can decrease the bid increments if you think they're too much. But overall, I received too many complaints about the 1k bid wars, so I felt that this would solve that. As always, I'm all ears for suggestions. Should I halve the bid increments? What do you suggest?

I could be wrong, but can't you still enter whatever number you want? I've been outbid by 1k and even a single meso on auctions that are supposed to have higher bid increments. Sorry if this is mentioned before.

Fargos....your on a budget...um this is a game did you know that. As you say if you really want the object you will pay the money, so why complain about the higher bid incriment. It shows who really wants the object to who is just trying to buy it to sell it again.

mrbasilI'll have to shut down the site for 8 hours to patch up this bidding bug. Hahaha, just kidding. Bug should be fixed.
mrbasil 10/28/05 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
mrbasilI've also halved the bid increments. Hopefully this makes things a little fairer.
NightHawk 10/28/05 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
Ummm... is it me or I can't bid no more? Every time I place a bid, it won't let me and says that the bid increment is too low when the amount I put is clearly above the increment.
mrbasil 10/28/05 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
mrbasilSorry about that, maybe I really should have taken the site down 8D It should be working now. PM me if it's not. Thanks folks.
mrbasil 10/28/05 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
mrbasilI've also added a new type to the Report system so that you can submit 'bugs' via the Report form. Easier than PM'ing me and I recommend it entirely over posting bugs in the forums. It's rare a day when I can read the forums, so please use the report option on the menu if you spot anything. Thanks folks.
