1. It's less harmful that drinking alcohol, and smoking cigarettes. 2. It's not addicting. Edit : I mean physical addiction, anyone can be mentally addicted to anything. 3. It helps with pain. 4. It makes food taste better. 5. It makes sex feel better. 6. It makes people happier. 7. If marijuana was legal, people would not have to deal with real criminals to get it. 8. If marijuana was legal, you could tax it and actually make a profit. 9. More than 90% of all American citizens over the age of 18 have either smoke marijuana frequently, or have tried it. 10. If marijuana was legal, it would reduce the amount of usage in all ages. 11. If marijuana was legal, it would reduce the amount of money going toward gangs, criminals, and fugitives, if not eliminate it altogether. 12. Arrests would be reduced drastically. 13. Less people would be in jail. Less people in jail = less money spent on to contain prisoners. 14. In America, we spend billions of dollars on the "War on Drugs", the money spent toward that would be drastically reduced. 15. Marijuana can be used for many medicines, and fuels. If marijuana was legal, we would not only help out the economy, we would also be pleasing the majority of the American people. I do not smoke marijuana. I have tried it though, and many of my friends smoke it. These are just my opinions.

1. It could be, but it can bring serious long term mental problems 2. Not sure about this 3. Without medical consultation, it can be abused 4. Don't know 5. People came to my school to give a conference about how it's not good, forgot the reason, although I can think of unprotected sex. 6. Yeah, I agree 7. Well many people at my school ( including me ) smoke marijuana and the people we get it from are not criminals lol. 8. Public Health costs would increase, therefore taking partial tax profits from the goverment ( in theory ) 10. Logically, no 11. Impossible to eliminate, marijuana is easy to grow, what will keep drug dealers from doing that ? 12-14. Yeah On #13 though, I don't know... I recalled reading somewhere that people arrested for drug possession don't always end up in jail. I think it's just that a lot of people who do stuff against the law often use drugs. 15. Negative effects also. I occasionally smoke marijuana. I don't find any real good reason to legalize it, and well I really don't believe it can happen. ( yeah it's legal in Holland, but I don't see it happening here. )

Yes, the prohibition on marijuana is stupid and gang-related crimes are committed just because of it. I'm sure cops would be pissy if they have to file papers for one degenerate who only has a gram on them. legalize it or decriminalize to 1 quarter @guyabove - highly doubtful that it can bring long term mental problems as much as alcohol, and if mental problems occur, they are probably co-existed in genetics. - anything can be abused, but yet there are still prescriptions out there. - it does make sex better, but it all depends on the user - behind a simple dealer could possibly be a drug lord whom would be a criminal There are more pros than cons if anything, and the research is continuing to find out more about marijuana.

Weed doesn't effect your judgment. While high you're still able to make decisions such as "I'm messed up right now I shouldn't drive", you're thinking of alcohol. 7. That's because you get it from low level dealers, I think he means the upper echelons are criminals. 10. Logically, yes. In many European countries where weed is legalized, abuse is way lower than it is in Canada/America.

I am a full supporter for the legalization of marijuana. Most of those things on the list are about the benefit to the individual and not about the benefit to society. I would add more points about how this can positively affect the criminal justice system and to remove arguments like "it makes sex feel better".

Why does it have to start at weed? Who made up that rule? Caffeine is a drug, you don't hear people saying "if you drink that Pepsi you might be doing heroin tomorrow"
