Any tips for XP computer for playing MS?

I just got this new cheap crappy computer for like 100 dollars. It's a really old computer thats like in the 1990s. It's Window XP. The only icon it has is maplestory and the internet (lolwat?) When I get on ms, It lags and stuff. I think it's just the computer, Not the connection.

Windows 7 isn't so great with Maple, I'd go XP > 7 anyday as long as its with gaming on my mind.

Just because youre too incompetent to understnad how to use a computer or an OS, that doesnt make it bad. I have Windows 7 and can log into several accounts at the same time on the same computer.

XP ftw! Try to upgrade your service pack, I heard that makes it faster, and if you have a few bucks left in your wallet, get a better graphics card or something to make your computer run a bit faster. My XP is from 2000. :p

up grade specs, go for ram 1st if you can actually play maple and if that works you can change it so the background looks ugly but u get better response

When you say "lags and stuff", what EXACTLY do you mean..? If for example it "lags" when you try to shoot, pick stuff up, or move through portals, that's NETWORK LAG, caused by your Internet connection. If it "lags" when you move your character around and the screen is "jerky", that's caused by your COMPUTER. Network lag you can't do a whole lot about. Computer lag can be caused by low amount of RAM, inefficient video card, or lots of things running in the background. If you're sure you're not running other programs when you play, you may be able to improve things by adding more RAM (depending on how much you already have), or by installing a better video card. Neither of these is all that expensive, especially for an older computer. Both RAM and video cards that will work with your computer can be bought used on eBay for really cheap if you look around. Meanwhile, something that MAY help would be to download and run "GameBooster" when you play. It stops unnecessary Windows processes that aren't needed when you're playing a game and that only eat up CPU power if you leave them running. Then when you're done playing it will restart everything back to normal. It will also check to be sure no other programs are running in the background slowing things down. Google the name for the download link. I use it on my XP system and it helps. Finally, be sure to scan your computer REGULARLY for viruses and spyware which can cause your computer to run sluggishly. Even if they don't harm the system or do evil things like steal your passwords, they can slow things down.

Upgrade your java and direct x. Add some RAM, Lower your screen resolution and color quality, and start maplestory using google chrome.
