MapleStory went from fun (beta/early versions) to garbage (now) Runescape went from fun (RS classic) to garbage (now) Pokemon went from fun (original 150) to garbage (5838 pokemon and junk storyline) Basil is making the same mistake the above did. They are throwing in stupid changes that no one likes and possibly making people quit. Basil awards, meebo chat or whatever it's called at the bottom, removal of post count, and now emotion faces. -Awards are very useless -meebo makes basil lag like hell (hurray for adblock) -post counts were useful, and it angered people that it was gone -Those emotion faces are so annoying to see, even if you only glance at them for a second. (Note that a guide on how to block them with adblock was posted the same day the faces were added.)

All change isn't bad. If you play and use something for just so long , of course it will get old or considered "boring". I think change is good and we'll just have to wait and see how this will play out.

[/quote] If you ask most people who played in Beta (including me) they'd say they had more fun when there wasn't all that stuff. Too many options can be a bad thing.

[/quote] If maple had stay in that state it wouldn't be the striving game that you all still play to do this day. All you guys do is complain about this crap daily but your still playing the game. Even thou it has all the hacking going on which has not been solved the game is still playable. Their is the option to lock your account and all you butt hurt beta players can start from scratch be a beginner and just enjoy the good old days. Wacking at snails for hrs end just to gain one lvl so you can go kill more snails.

It doesn't mean I can't say that I liked it better back in the day. You can like the original season of Pokemon the best and hate all the new Pokemon.

The same can be said about a person who joins Maple now. In several patches they'll say that they had more fun with this patch and will complain about the new content. However, I still think that the early versions were more fun because it seemed as if people were more willing to help other out.

MapleStory isn't all that bad right now. I didn't like Runescape to begin with. Pokemon's plot is better, if anything... unless you're talking about the TV show. And I don't see how the Basil changes really that terrible.

Pokemon didn't fail. Only Diamond/Pearl/Platinum did. Heart Gold and Soul Silver are the best. But yeah, Maple used to be more fun some years ago.

Maplestory, Runescape, and Pokemon are fine. Well, I've never actually played Runescape, but it looks a lot better now and my brother (who plays Runescape) never complains about it. You're just suffering from a mild case of the disease called "nostalgia". Speaking of nostalgia, I don't like the changes mrbasil has made either. The summaries are unnecessary, the blue threads are unnecessary and stupid, and the replacement of post count with emoticons is unnecessary and stupid and annoying.

Is it really that Basil is making changes for the worst, or is it simply losing the novelty it once had when you first started? You can call it "worse" all you like, but I think it's more psychological factors that are affecting your opinion, rather than the changes themselves. With Maplestory as an example, more features and more content has made the game better. If you were having fun when you started and aren't having fun now, it's probably because Maplestory has lost its value to you, not everyone. The site may have lost meaning to you, a user who has used the site for all its worth, but it still has meaning for those who can still experience the novelty of the site. Speaking from personal experience, Beta sucked. The community was small, the content was severely limited, and the UI was flawed. [/quote] While I do consider them ugly, I must say that they aren't a replacement, the forum list currently has both.
