Always at 100% CPU

| My laptop is always at 100% CPU and, obviously, my computer runs very slow. I've tried scanning with AVG, using CCleaner, PerfectDisk, and RegistryEasy and it's still always at 100% CPU. This started about one or two weeks ago. It's a very good laptop and I used to be able to go on HT and Zak runs without even lagging but now I can barely train or even surf the web without freezing up. Anyone know the solution to my problem? Oh, and I have two of these laptops and the other one runs fine. Both are eight months old. |

| Why dont you try finding out exactly WHAT PROGRAM is causing your CPU to be at 100% usage? If you know enough to find out that your CPU is being maxed out, then it shouldnt be too hard to see which program it is. And when you do figure out said program, take an appropriate course of action regarding it. |

| Oh, just remembered, you can sort your task manager process list by how much CPU each is taking up. End the top one. |

| What programs do you run in the background? 1. Disable your Nagle Algorithm? It makes gameplay faster, but slows down internet surfing. 2. Try Auslogics BoostSpeed? |

I used to have the same problem, but now I'm running a nitro-cooled quad-core, intel 2 extreme setup. My CPU never gets over 12% ever. I had 20 web browers, and 4 different games running, and only 12%. (Games that were being run: BF2 (with both expansions), Crysis, CoD4 (online), and WoW.) But on top of all of those 4 I also had maple running. So I guess thats 5 games. If you want to know more about my rig, message me. |

That's not only completely useless and just showing off, but it sounds fake. For example, what are the other specs, because what you describe is like none of what has to do with the computer. OT: Just try ending processes you know you can end that you aren't using. Usually none of my processes besides system idle process really use CPU. |

| @TheRebel: Wow, that's a lot. I'll try that and tell you the results. @infiltr8r: That's nice. Here's a SS of Windows Task Manager on both of my laptops. Laptop #1 (photobucket) Laptop #2 (photobucket) Laptop #2 has more programs running but as you can see Laptop #1 has 100% CPU. |

I suggest running Malwarebytes anti-malware. |

| Try setting different Affinities for different processes. Set the lighter programs for 1 core, and the heavier ones for 2 cores, and check it out. |
