Looking for a summer job

Hmm, my parents are forcing me to get one... what about yours? Share your peer pressure. Oh, and 1 more question. Seriously, if I want a job, let say McDonald's, do I just walk right in and ask the cashier "are you guys hiring?" 'Cuz I don't wanna look stupid. =[

I have it really easy. I applied for SYEP (Summer Youth Employment Program). It's too late to sign up now and I think its only in New York. What it basically does is it gives you a job that you win by lottery. You choose a place and they tell you if you got in or not. Then that place has to give you a worksite, or a place to work at. They ran out of worksites. But guess what? I can still get paid! I get paid minimum wage, $7.25 an hour. I do nothing for 1 hour a day, mon-thurs, and get paid as if I were working for 5 hours. But it ends on August 14. Now to help you out: It depends how old you are. McDonalds doesn't hire unless you're 16. Go to supermarkets. Ask one of the cashiers if you can apply for a job here. I did that in a supermarket and they gave me the application but my parents said no. LOL

It depends on where you live i think. Where I live, you can work at Mcdonalds as soon as your 14 but you're only allowed on till. Just go up to them, ask if you could talk to the manager and he'll hand you an application.

And I always think it's really really bad happening when you say "LET ME TALK TO YOUR MANAGER!"

Just ask casually if you could talk to the manager, they'll be more then happy to talk to you. Sometimes, they leave their applications in the lobby so you don't even have to talk to them!
