My laptop used to be like super fast then after downloading then deleting a bunch of chinese songs off my laptop (transfer from USB) my laptop just like crashed. It is going very slow now and i need help getting back its original speed. I have lag problems just running basil now. I have already been doing the following -Use Ccleaner -Use SpeedUpMyPC -Clean Registry -Defrag hard drive everyday -Change my battery settings to 'High Performance' -Run Disc Cleanup whenever possible i need more tips on how to speed up my laptop. I have a vista and i usually always have youtube,facebook and basil running at the same time with maple in windowed mode. It used to not lag when i had all these on but now it does. Anyone know any good ideas for me to speed up my laptop? If you are going to suggest a program please make sure it is safe, reliable and free. Thanks

My friend said his dad can do that for me, but it is gonna take like 5 hours or something and i will lose all my memory

yes its called a system recovery. in other words return the computer to its manufacturer settings like how you got it when it was new. only what was on the computer when u bought it will be there, everything else will be deleted. and i doubt itll take 5 hours. takes maybe an hr or two

But make sure do save your important files onto a USB>

Isn't it something like you hit ctrl f11 at the start up screen to get to the system restore screen? I was considering doing it, I just wasn't sure if I needed a cd with vista on it or if it kept the OS :/

You should get this program that will focus more on maple. I think its called Maple Optimizer.

It sounds more like you got some sort of malware/spyware rather then your computer just doesn't like you. I'm not sure though....

Try superantispyware free. http://www.superantispyware.com/downloadfile.html?productid=SUPERANTISPYWAREFREE It works great. Sounds like you have spyware or malware on it. A simple scan should do the trick. Even if it only detects tracking cookies, it'll help.

Like they said- you listed everything EXCEPT running an anti-virus and spyware scan..! That's the FIRST thing to do when something like this happens, especially when you've connected a USB thumbdrive to your system and the problem happened immediately afterward (USB thumbdrives can carry virus/trojan infections from other computers/other people's computers). Get SOMETHING- AVG, Avast, Avira, Symantec, Panda, Kaspersky- it really doesn't matter WHICH one, just GET ONE and run it. I think Trend Micro has an online virus/malware scanner (although it takes a while since it works over the Internet) that you can use without having to download and install an anti-virus program. Google "Trend Micro" to find their site.
