Best computer I can get with 2.5k bucks.

My parents decided that this computer is old enough and needs to be changed. Could you guys suggest me awesome deals that I can get with that amount of money? Please keep in mind that I AM NOT INTERESTED IN BUILDING MY OWN. Thanks you.

Sorry if I sound too picky, but for some reason Vista ticks me off. Vista is the reason we are changing computers, because it totally ruined our old desktop.

Those things you listed doesn't say anything about the performance of your computer (your processor and GPU). More RAM doesn't necessary mean better performance. I only does, if you going to used it. Go to bestbuy. For 700$, I got the Acer Aspire. 4G Ram, 360G hard-drive, 16 Inch screen, Great speakers, Pretty good Video card. Full keyboard. So, for 2.5k... You could get something double as awesome as mine

link That's $1,200... Then add a custom mouse, keyboard, 23" flat screen, and speakers And you'll be at a good $1,600 range. Save the $900 for a laptop/ netbook/ other goodies. $2,500== too much for a desktop.

as long as you don't have less then 2gb ram vista won't be a problem and in oct windows 7 comes out and thats what i use right now i have two computers a pc and a laptop and the laptop has 3gb ram and a onboard video card and if vista and windows 7 runs fine on that it will run fine on a computer your going to pay 2 and a half grand on

Tell us the games you play. Probably most of the people around here will no next to nothing about this, and they'll pull the answer straight out of their ass. I suggest not listening to any opinions on here. Just tell me the games you play, don't say oh lots of games puzzles whatever. Name the games. Then I'll find you a deal and link to it. With 2,500, you can get pretty much anything. However, you don't need to spend that much. Definitely don't go alienware. Overpriced trash. Good brands my ass, the inards are all similar anyway. As for Vista, it works JUST FINE with maple and everything else. The reason Vista slowed down your old computer is simply because it's 10 years old. You can't expct an Xbox 360 game to run on a Nintendo 64 can you? Same with Vista running on that old computer. It works great. And with 2,500, you'll have a computer that's MUCH MORE than enough to run Vista, Maple, whatever.

What's the specs of your computer now? o.O Like I said, it's mostly because your computer was very out of date and that's why it's slow. You can't really judge an OS by that. I've been a XP user for quite a while now and only had Vista for 3 months so far, and it wasn't as bad as many people made it out to be. Actually, it isn't bad at all, imo. I'm still able to do everything I normally do without any problems. The "slowdown" is mostly from the specs of you computer, in general. As for Gateway, I believe they are a good brand. At least from what my friends said. Of course, I can't say it for sure, though. I have never had any experience with them. All my computers was build from when I was 11 by meh.

If you haven't gotten the picture already, the main things you would be looking for in a Gaming computer or..In my own personal opinion, Is the amount of RAM and the Video Card. Those two are the most I've been associated with my computer for gaming.

Also the GDRR5 graphics cards are about to have a massive price breakthrough in the next couple of months. There also a lot of development in the new tri channel RAM for the i7 chips. I'd wait a couple of months.
