how to deal with your parents divorce

Title pretty much sums it up. I just heard my parents talking about a divorce..needless to say im feeling a bit down now.. so if anybody has any advice or links throw 'em my way

Great, so unless you hear otherwise, or one of them dosen't have a secure job, you have to chose who to live with, but you get to visit the other parent

It can be a positive thing. It's better for them to be divorced than to be fighting all the time. -hugs- I'm sure that everything will work out fine.

I must apologize if I come across as insensitive, but the notion that love should last more than an hour is false. The fact that anyone takes marriage seriously astounds me.

You'll get used to it. And be nice to your stepparents. The last thing you want is having a parent that dislike you, biological or not.

You seem to see things from quite a different sense of things from most people. People don't HAVE to do things just because it is profitable or has something in it for them. Spending time and effort on another person doesn't mean that you expect anything to happen.

were they talking about it angrily or calmly? and is it something that's ongoing or did you just hear it this one time? my parents were really angry at each other and talked about a divorce once. but that was in the spur of the moment not necessarily how it will turn out for you though D:

People can be as irrational and vain as they please; it doesn't effect me in the least. Divorce is as natural as marriage, is what I mean to say. We shouldn't hold marriage in such high regard. That being said, assuming the worst will come from a divorce is overly melodramatic, if I may. Who is to say a divorce should change anything?

I thought you meant relationships in general It probably did originally when there was no such thing as divorce Marriage nowadays is just some way to get tax benefits and some sort of way to "show love and commitment" and to show you are serious about the relationship But yes I do agree that there is nothing truly special about it
