Get vista, and for a good gaming laptop, I would reccomend a AlienWare or build your own customized gaming PC at link .

Bro. If you wanna just play maple and simple games buy a cheap comp. Nothing too expensive. Then next year when windows 7 comes out, buy a brand new graphics card that would support DIRECT X 11. THATS RIGHT YOU HEARD ME! e.g Nvidia GTX 3 Series. Yeah like everyone says, build your own computer. BUT I DO NOT RECOMMEND DELL, ACER, HP ETC. DO not buy them for games. And with the processor, if your into gaming it would be wise to get a Dual Core not a Quad Core. Generally games only take advantage of two cores, so your looking for the highest speed. I recommend the Intel e8200 - Core 2 Duo 3.0ghz. Not too pricey, and can overclock to 4ghz on air cooling! If your intothat. But yeah, make sure you get a good motherboard if your going to overclock. And AMD Processors and ATI Radeon cards are fine. Nothing wrong with them at all.

If you want to spend up to $3000, check out Alienware, they make the top-of-the-line gaming-oriented desktops. However, it can be fun (and really cheap) to build your own. Like JustDOit said, check out Newegg to find all the parts you need. http://www.alienware.com/products/desktop-computers.aspx

I don't see what's wrong with Vista. It's not worse , its better . You need to get Vista, and unless you have an awesome reason, I can't see why not.

... If you buy everything seperately, you can create an ultimate gaming desktop with 1000 at most. 5 gigs of RAM 2.6 quadcore processor 8800 NVidia GT video card. A fan ;o Set.

And I already have my solution and I'm doing it this weekend :P See, in the last week I've had a friend build his own computer for around $500. Maybe even LESS. You want to know his specs? 8 Gigs of RAM, yes 8 whole gigs. Mother Board with 4 slots. 512 Graphics Card 2 Fans EDIT: I Forgot his Quad Core Processor. And TeraByte Hard Drive. And a Decent case. All for UNDER $500. There is no reason not to build your own computer. A computer like this would be over 1.5 thousand dollars. Just build your own, a good website would be newegg. So link Shipping may look like a lot, but it's cheap for everything you're getting." What happens when the computer gets water on it ? I spilled water twice on my Dell computer and they repaired it for free everytime.

I would recommend a customized desktop if you know how to build it. It isn't hard at all. I'm running a XFX 4850 XXX. I personally like this graphics card since I only play games like CounterStrike 1.6, Source, Left 4 Dead, Maplestory, etc. I'm not sure what the full potential of this graphic card is because I never overclocked it but it is able to give me constant 100fps on Steam and max settings on Left 4 Dead. I would say get a Geforce 8800. I'm not a big fan of the 9xxx series lol.

I was a noob when I bought my first computer (This one.) If you want a gaming computer, Do what he says.
