Very simple, actually. 1. Go here - link 2. Follow the instructions Optional Step - 3. Once your settings are changed / you registered an account, go here link and setup a network. You'll probably need to get the Open DNS updater. Doing this allows you to customize more settings Enjoy your increased internet speed! Please note that you will only noticed an increased internet speed if your on sucky provider like Telus - give it a try! Benchmark! You requested it, and here it is! I'm not going to post graphs, pictures, etc, so you'll just have to trust me on this :P I did testing on link - without using OpenDNS, it took just over 3 seconds to fully load the page (probably about 3.2 seconds). Using OpenDNS, it took 2 seconds exactly to fully load the page. So as you can see, I saved nearly 1 second by using OpenDNS :D

Your still limited to the speed set by your ISP. But as I said, it may speed the overall time up by 1 second, as it will speed up connecting to the download

I never said you did say that. Im saying you should add it because after reading this, people may think it will increase the speed of their downloads, which it will not. Speed being independent of time.

Speed being independent of time." Hmm alright, but I'm not posting this saying it will increase yoru download time, I'm talking about web browsing time. If a user visits 5,000 sites in a day (for example), it would save them over 80 minutes of loading time

If a user visits 5,000 sites in a day (for example), it would save them over 80 minutes of loading time " I never said it would increase your download time O_o As for your example, not necessarily as they would need to have a ping as bad as yours, get an increase in speed as much as yours, as well as visit sites that take that long to connect. For example, using speedtest.net, using the server closest to me, my ping is around 50ms, ( washington DC ) as compared to using the server in San Jose, CA, where my ping is 120ms. ;P

Lol, I use OpenDNS as well, it shouldn't improve game connection time or anything, just web browsing or anything that requires a DNS lookup. However, there have been instances where OpenDNS has had issues; If you look up TurboTax and OpenDNS, earlier this year there was a problem that prevented people from using TurboTax fully, and the only solution before OpenDNS fixed it was to either use your ISP's DNS servers or edit your host file.

Why is it that my internet download speed is weird? I used to download at 50kb/s then like a month later iit went up to 100kb/s then another month 120kb/s then like a year later 200kb/s. I reformatted my computer and now it downloads at 350kb/s? Im not complaining or anything..but what?o.0 I have rogers high speed btw

It could also be what and where youre downloading from. Different mirrors and downloads will give different speeds. If you want your max, use speedtest.net

this gets my vote for speeding up dns queries. Probably not practical for 99% of Basilers, but it's certainly handy for me.
