| So, my teacher earlier this week was just telling the class a story (story with moral, but forgot what it was). I thought it was pretty interesting, and thought I might share it with you guys =]... So here it is: One day, an old man thought to himself, "Now that I have retired and have all this money, I think it's time for me to buy a bigger house". His decision was made, and his friend found a bigger house for him. The first few days was peaceful and quiet, and nothing near was there to bother him. That is, until school started. The house was very near a school, you see. Every day, a group of trouble-making kids would go around the block after school, banging and slamming onto garbage cans pieces of metal with big silver spoons. Apparently, the old man didn't enjoy the sound. However, he was a wise man. He knew what to do. After a week, the old man went out of his house and talked to the leader of the group. "Kids, I love your sound. It brings music to my soul, and I'd love to hear it every day of my life (Say what? O_O). How about this, we'll make a deal. I'll give you a dollar for every day that you come near my house to bang on those garbage cans." Seeing that this was such a great deal, the boy replied, "Yeah sure." So the boys went on, banging onto their garbage cans near the old man's house every day. A few days later, the old man approached the leader again. "Well, I'm currently starting to run out of money, so I can't afford to pay you a dollar a day now. However, I'm sure 50 cents a day would suffice?" "Hmm, I guess that works too" the boy hesitantly replied. The boys continue to come to the old man's house every day, banging on their cans. A few days later, the old man approaches the leader once again. "I'm sorry boys, but the economy is going extremely bad now. That means, I can't afford to pay you 50 cents a day. However, I can pay you a quarter a day." "WHAT? A quarter isn't worth anything! I'm not doing this anymore!" said the boy angrily. So for the rest of the old man's life, he lived in peace. There was no loud sounds of banging, just peace... |
