| This has been something that's nagged me for a while now. Too often, when I look for past threads to read posts or to see what the discussion was about, the thread is deleted. Why is that necessary? Are the moderators trying to erase what went down or is it more automatic- I mean I'm pretty sure MrBasil could add extra hard drives to his server if space is an issue. And it isn't even the rare thread either, nearly 80% of past threads I look at are deleted and there's no way of looking at them. So I'm just curious for answers (and please don't lock this thread immediately because I might have more questions depending on your answers). |

| Why is it the general rule that those threads are deleted? And in addition do moderators default delete a thread once they've filtered it though (suspended a raid of flamers or whatnot). It's just that I see an interesting topic, and I go to click on it and it doesn't exist any more- I was hoping this could be explained/ changed. |

That's always been a high priority for MrB, even though every person who knows anything about bandwidth has told me MrB has enough and then some for storin old threads and makin big updates [keeping the old dropdown menus was rejected cuz of server space, apparently]. I dunno, either the site has less extra free space than I think or MrB is OCD about havin lotsa extra space. Either way it's automatic. And if a thread has to be flushed of bad posts, it usually stays afterward -- as long as the thread itself wasn't parta the problem. |

| If a thread is dead for more than a couple weeks and hasn't reached 4+ pages, it gets deleted. If it reaches 4+ pages and dies, it gets locked. |
