Whats with Rock music lovers?

I have some people at my school who love Rock more than anything. Bands like Linkin Park, U2, etc. I personally listen to pop and dance pop. When I tell them that I don't listen to rock music or that "I don't like U2." or something, they go nuts. Seriously, what's with people and loving music that always "complies with your emotions?" I dislike listening to sad music when I'm sad or passionate music when I'm feeling down. I listen to incredibly hyped up music when I'm feeling sad to boost my happiness, and incredibly hyped up music when I'm feeling happy to maintain my happiness. Why do people want me to listen to rock so much, so far as to calling pop "soulless and retarded?" Pop may not have the lyrics you people are looking for, but it's still pretty amazing. P.S. I listen mostly to kpop, which, for some reason, people seem to hate even more. Isn't it the lyrics of the american pop songs they hate? Kpop has some pretty motivational lyrics, lots of songs have very good lyrics, so why continue the hate? My preference is my preference... why do rock lovers go so hysterical over me not loving rock?

I don't think it's all of them, one of my best friends on basil is a rock music lover and he doesn't mind I only like rap.

[/quote] About the Kpop part, I think it's because of how similar all the songs are and how the artists sound quite similar in some cases.

I'm mainly a metal person, but I'm totally cool with whatever people wanna listen to lol. I don't get why people care so damn much. Is it really going to impact your life if someone you know listens to hiphop or dance pop?

There are those ppl everywhere. In my school there are metal, punk, rock and pop lovers. They usually 'fight'. I love metal but I don't join those conflicts. It's because they think they're better than the rest? oO That's at least how they act.

Chester is ruining Linkin Park but U2 is awesome anyways... most of my Asian friends listen to lady gaga and stuff and they hate all my music but I'm ok with them listening to that stuff I just don't like all the auto tune and annoying pop songs that are all so generic it hurts. my non asian friends listen to all kinds of music but at least are not obsessed

I listen to music for entertainment and to sing along, not for intellectual or emotional value. I'm generally the last person others would expect to enjoy dance, pop, and so on, but if I wanted something more, I'd read a book.
