Do YOU think maplestory made a new security error?

Ever since PIC was introduced, you no longer need your birthday to delete your character, instead you use your PIC, the same piece of info a hacker needs to strip your character naked. I think it's a major security issue, I mean having a hacker steal all your equips, items, scrolls, etc. is one thing, and having a hacker steal all your equips, items, scrolls, etc. and kill your character to the point of no respawn is another. I was just wondering what you guys think about this, is this a security issue? Discuss, don't dis/cuss please ... lol ... just made that up Note: if your character gets deleted bcz of this, accept my apologies pl0x. Thank you.

Someone make a petition to change that pls. IMO we don't want to be hacked at all, so I think we should have the PIN system back... Double security, PIN and PIC

IMO there should be another code/password/etc for deleting characters

Its easier for a hacker to find out someones birthday than it is a random 6+ mumbered code you invented in your own mind, and a hacker unless they have a personal problem with you is mostly going to capitalize on your stuff, why would he go a delete a character that could possibly bring him more stuff if he hacks your account again?

Its actually very hard to steal someones account since you only get 5 trys to get the PIC correct so the only way they could get your account is if you tell them your information, but idk why you would lol. But yes i do agree that this is a hazard to your accounts safety.

[/quote] it can also be mixed with letters/capital letters and numbers so if yours is mix it might take more than like 5 hours to crack it but who would spend 5 hours to hack a account

Considering the birthday can be found out by simply logging into the Nexon website, I'm pretty sure that the PIC is a better security measure...

But hackers could simply bypass PINs, if I remember correctly, could they not also do this with PIC?

they can also just find your email hack that and reset your pin thats how i got hacked 0.o

I don't know why Nexon doesn't just implement item locks into our inventory for free. Nobody seems to really buy them anyways. Might as well keep us safe from the hackers they fail to stop rather than making us pay for protection. OT: Yea, that is pretty scary if you think about it. Atleast you can recover from losing your stuff, but you're screwed if your characters get deleted.

i put in a random birthday, so until then i couldnt delete my chars. my acc has horrible items, im dirt poor, so it would be a really sad hacker once he sees my items.

Eh they should make it so deleting a character is near impossible (e.g. requires scheduling on-site interview and a 30 USD fee).
