| Would it melt enough ice to flood the world? Haha, I was just thinking about this during class today... EDIT: Alright, what if Antarctica AND the northern Arctic were nuked? |

| I don't know but there's no point in nuking them. They're just minding their own business. |

|
belloband1t : well, antarctica is mostly land. maybe if someone nuked the north pole
Wrong way around. Antarctica is primarily ice, the north pole is primarily land. |

| not even close, not unless quite a few nukes were used. If you look at the stats from WW2, while nukes ended the war by basically destroying the two japanese cities, more damage was done by the more conventional weapons. Nukes just pack quite a lot of wallop into a small space, not to mention the lingering radiation damage. |
comparing ww2 nukes to modern day nukes is dumb as ww2 nuke was 15megatons and now u you can 50 megaton easy and 100 megaton if u want the dropping plane to suicide |

| No, the melt wouldnt cause flooding, all the snow and stuff would most likely evaporate instantaneously. The flooding comes from the rippling effect in the earth's crust as the nuke explodes and create a buncha energy. |

| the chances of me getting a 25 kill streak on derail are kind of low OT: depending on what nukes you talking about. with today's technology. WMD can be up to 500mt. http://farm1.static.flickr.com/131/339291829_59679da6f8_o.gif ww2 nukes are 15 kt. |

| It would melt a very significant amount of ice, probably enough to raise sea levels by a measurable amount, but it's going to take more water and ice than there exists on this planet to flood the world. |
