Let me tell you why the "old days" were better.

Hello Basilers! Small wall of text approaching! :D Before I start I would like to inform you all that English is not my first language, so spelling as well as grammatical errors may be present. Today, encountering a thread that does not consist of some player glorifying the "old days" in one way or another is pretty much impossible. You go "Maplestory was soooo much better when no one cared about damage, 3rd job was unthinkable, Tiger was on top, 10 attack Workglove was insane", etcetera etcetera. You write with passion about how you went exploring with friends, getting owned by the Balrog deep in the Sanctuary and leaving Ossyria for the first time. "Things will never be like that", you say. "Nexon ruined it, bring Wizet back". Let me tell you why everything was better before. You were younger! You probably started playing Maplestory when you were around 12 years old, maybe even 10. You were engulfed by the music, the towns, the whole idea of an online game. So much better than Runescape, right? The reason Maplestory is not like it was is because you have played it steadily for many years. You have grown older and found other interests in relationships, money, education, alcohol and sports. Imagine new players today making their first Maplestory character. They will do the exact same things as you did. They will curse themselves as they die on the ship to Orbis, buy heaps and heaps or ores for no apparent reason, fight their way to level 30 and remake their character as they realize mages doesn't need str. They as well will explore ant tunnel, dieing from the lightening rod of one of the Lycanthropes depp inside. Unlike you who has already been there a number of times, they will enjoy this. This why you never go explore anymore! You have already seen the entire Maple world! "The old" Maplestory will never come back, because you as an individual doesn't look at it the same way you used to. But new players will always be transfixed by it, and Maplestory has most definitely not lost it's magic.

I remember when I thought exploring Sleepywood with a Jr Rog party full of lvl2X-lvl4X was cool. It lost a lot of its excitement I have to admit.

I miss how everyone was so much closer in level and the sense of unity was so much stronger than it is now. The game has made it "every man for himself" or "you have to know the right people". It's still fun, and I only really care for how I play the games with my friends than with the community as a whole, but that's only because the community only gets further and further apart.

FM = dead Perion Dungeon Entrance = cool spot you were pro if you had a CLEAN WG. Level 30 took about 1 month of casual playing.

keep it old school.. i've been playing since the beginning and i miss the old days.. people were nice and maple wasn't overloaded with immature NX brats! thats what bothers me the most. Also... it does not matter because of the "you were younger" .. im in my 20's and i started playing while i was in highschool. It was just a better game to play before nexon made the gigantic mistake of helping gameplay through NX so every time you want to tell me how much of a noob i am due to lack of awesome gear that is scrolled to hell.. remember this.. you spend all your money on NX, i spend all my money on my SHWEET red car! stupid kids.. maples 13+!
