i have a line with A B and C. A is before C and B, and B is before C. line AC is 41. Line BC is 2 times as big as Line AB. All I got so far is that BC is 2x and AB is x. And that AC is 41. How could I solve it?

Stop with the homework threads already. Just learn to do it yourself. Jesus Christ.

Simple. Draw it out, so that a comes first, followed by b, and finally c. If you know AC totals 41, BC is 2 times AB, then let's assume AB is X, therefore BC is 2x. Add them together to get 3x=41, divide by 3 on both sides, get x, plug it in, and there you go

lol so this is what i think ur saying A ----------- B ----------------------------- C total distance 41 easy? yeah...distance AB+BC=41?

-facepalm- I just started geometry and this is probably one of the easiest problems yet A-----B---------------C 2x+x=41 since BC=2AB and AB+BC=AC you need to get out of that class if you cant solve it from here

I didnt think they still do this stuff in regular geometry o-o.

[/quote] they still do even in honors for beggining of class Edit: either your teacher thinks its 51 your textbook meant 51 or you read the problem wrong sorry about the harsh tone, but a lot of people need to repeat algebra and thats just like the basics of algebra x.x

if the line you describe is like this: A__________B____________________C, and AC=41... AB+BC=41, substitute the variables, and solve from there. leave it in improper fraction form. done.

I understand your geometry homework, Frozenvarice just did it for you... Same way I had to do it in Geometry, Frozenvarice! Lmao... But it was too many steps to remember. Counted as part of the grade as a lesson in my class. My geometry grade was the best in the class even though I couldn't really solve it. I then got it. Plug in AB and BC combined with AC=41 or something. I don't know, I'm usually used to how it is taught when I was in school. The answer is easy. I already have it, but there's a weird feeling I get, because I can't remember it when my Geo teacher isn't teaching it. That suddnely takes my mind off of it, therefore, giving you part of the homework you should know, but go with Frozenvarice, it seemed the way I did it in Geometry, 2x+x=41 and then do the two steps after with AB and BC and that whatnot I'm getting mixed up with. Then I know you have to solve it by plugging it in, and if it doesn't show a correct answer, do it again.

It's A-----B----------C, and AC=41 If Line BC is '2x,' and Line AB is 'x,' Then AB+BC is 3x, but we already know AB+BC makes up the line AC, which is 41 units. So the equation is 41=3x, so x = 41/3. Line AB= 41/3 units, Line BC=82/3 units. Easy enough.
