http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/10_36/b4193012837623.htm Apparently this is being caused by a larger portion of Japanese women waiting until a later age (~early to mid 30s) to marry and procreate. In response, one prefectural government is setting up an online dating site for local singles. You heard right: a government-sponsored online dating site. Get to it, Japan!

ok i forget if its China or Japan, but because of overpopulation there is actually a law limiting ocuples to only allwing them to procreate and have one child. But this is slowly catching up with them now, and caused this to happen
