Defending against velociraptor attacks?

What would be the best way to defend against a velociraptor attack? Since one may never know when a velociraptor will strike, it pays to always be prepared. How should I be prepared? Anyways, I was talking about the drakes in MapleStory, yes, these ones with large talons and sharp teeths in extremely hidden places hards to find, the truth here is that they're very very very misterious velociraptors
