Is it possible to focus on upgrading just one piece of equipment from the visitor suit at some point? Instead of having to keep the four pieces of the suit equally scrolled.

After you hit 12 on each, yes. After you finish upgrading those you can throw away the scrolled gloves and get moar clean ones for GFAing.
