iPhone or iTouch + Phone

Hello there Basilers. I dont currently own a mobile phone, nor an iPod of any kind. I was just wondering whether I should get an iPod touch and then another phone of my choice, or whether I should outright get an iPhone (since it's both). It sounds obvious, but I just want to get some opinions on this please. Also, if I go with the iPhone, should I get the iPhone 3GS or the iPhone 4? The iPhone 4 has said to have a lot of issues compared to the 3GS, so I'm unsure whether to get it. I like its new design and its new features, but if it's a hassle to use it for every-day use then I may not bother. Yes, this is a repost of my thread from yesterday (my yesterday at least), but since I posted it during such a non-active time zone, I didn't get as many opinions as I would have liked.

You kno if you have wifi around you, you can use your ipod touch as a phone. I've tried it a couple of times.

itouch + phone if you actually use the itouch to listen to music/play games, then having ONLY an iphone will drain the batteries a lot. Also, it's irritating to be in the middle of a game and then have a text or call exit it... keep the gaming / phone separated. Plus iphone is overrated =P It's all about android now <3

Wait a week, theres a refresh coming on the September 1st. Definitely a much better new iPod touch, low chances of a iPhone 4 refresh that won't have as much problems. Right now I would go with a iPod touch + a phone cause I wanna text with a slide out QWERTY keyboard. But right now it is VERY annoying to carry both a phone and a iPod, especially since I'm a guy and I don't use purses.

like iOS is the operating system on the iphone (I think?) Windows is operating system for PCs... etcetc Android is the os for a certain group of phones and it's 419525t63341e314x better than iOS Sooo much more freedom to customize and do stuff (rather than be stuck with the ugly icon layout of ipod touches and iphones)

I would spring for the iphone 4 over the iphone 3gs, there are only reception problems but if you have a case over it then these issues are solved. I personally have the ipod touch. Only the 32 gb and 64 gb version of the ipod touch have most of the capabilities of an iphone, so bear that in mind. I like it a lot, the only things are that there is obviously no 3g connecting, just wifi, the speakers aren't as loud, and that there is no outer microphone (you need the headphones with the mic). If you don't mind those three, then just get the ipod, because apple rips people off with iphone plans.

AngelxHoly The iPhone is just an iTouch with a microphone, and a better speaker. It's not worth it really. I can talk on my iTouch as if I were on the phone so ya know. Theres not much of a difference other than price
