Should forcing your child to be vegan be considered child abuse?

Kinda, kinda not. Depends on how you look at it. It'd be a human rights violation to not allow them to eat meat. It's also the parents descretion until the child hits 18.

Well since there not 18 yrs old the parents can make them do w/e they provided its not really illegal like go kill ppl or take drugs. Things like that. So I would think that this is perfectly fine in legal terms. However, I personally think that it is morally wrong to force a child to do something they are not really fond of. With the exception of doing chores that is. Still parents shouldn't be getting too upset at there children for not doing what there suppose to do. Everything should be done in a respectful manner.

Of course, they could just disown you and make you a ward of the state, meaning that you live in an orphanage, if you don't want to do anything they tell you. Or if they have money, they could send you to boarding school/ military academy or any other place that will make your life miserable. By knowing this, what would you do? Eat meat and get LEGALLY kicked out of your house, or become a vegetarian. The law is fun. People do actually disown their children because they give way too much trouble. Sometimes, even the child services agent recommends it.

Not unless they are being starved or something. Otherwise it's not any different than, say... forcing your child to be a specific religion or going to a specific school.

No it's not child abuse. Giving children too many rights and control over their lives (letting them do what they want basically) destroys their self-discipline, work ethic, social boundary development and the respect they should have for their parents and others around them.

no, as much as i'd disagree with as long as its healthy parents have every right to feed their child what they please, it is possible to have a healthy vegan diet, henceforth it shouldn't be considered child abuse because their child is properly nourished from said healthy vegan diet.
