Dude... 4 years? If she is aware of your existance and its been 4 whole years, odds are... you're in the Friend Zone o_O On the other hand, if she dosn't quite know who you are... well that makes you a stalker =D But yea, once you've entered the Friend Zone just give up and go scout for a different girl. The best piece of advice I can give you is to act faster next time, before it's too late.

[/quote] You can imagine I'm both terribly unfriendly and horribly socially awkward if that helps you sleep better at night. In fact, you know how people like to carry tons of balloons on their birthdays to give the impression of immense popularity? I like to carry just one balloon, to give the exact opposite impression. And you know how people like to travel around campus in a big pack, or sit in large groups? I sometimes like to sit alone in order to let them gape at me, laugh at me, poke fun at me, etc. I also note you didn't fully read what I wrote. I said "Of course, if you've created a relationship or whatever with the girl, YOU CAN ASK HER. But a complete stranger?" Your 99% fact is, as you posted, based on PREVIOUS CONTACT. So let's just erase anything and everything past that point as it is no longer based on anything I've written. And no, I am neither terribly unfriendly nor horribly socially awkward, although I am very shy. EDIT = and further, the pure idiocy of the sentence "How much do you know about socializing?" stings me. Socializing is not a science, nor is it an art. It comes easily to some and less easily to others but I think it is safe to say that, around your friends, you are completely comfortable and the "need to socialize" that we so often talk about dissolves. How often do you sit down with your friends and feel PRESSED to say something? No one does and that is because the innate definition of a friend is someone around whom you feel totally comfortable being whoever you are.
