What causes Maple to flash like this?

My friend downloaded Maple Story night before last and had her screen flip out, flashing black, changing resolution of other windows rapidly, uncontrollable. She might have pressed the windows button and I only got it to come around after closing Maple with Alt+f4. We thought it was because she has Windows 7 and I don't, but today I experienced the same thing twice on my own computer which has never done it before. I do not think I pressed the windows button. Is anyone else experiencing this? Anyone know what causes it or if it arrived with the latest patch?

You mean she alt enters? that happens to me sometimes, I just ctrl alt delete and restart.

my problem is somewhat similar to yours. my screen flashes a black, with the top and bottom turning into the closest town. At first it'll only flash once, then afterwards it'll flash multiple times. As soon as it starts to flash nonstop, i dc. =( dunno if that helps, but im just letting you know that you're not the only one. (also , i have windows 7)

yes i have that as well. people say its graphics driver or something. try updating ur drivers. if it still doesnt work (like mine), then there is no solution.

Was she in window mode and saw that MS was buggy, so she decided to go fullscreen? If you do, this uncontrollable black flashing thing happens. At least to me.

This happens to me, what i usually do, is either i alt f4, or i when i see the image of ms, (Minimized and black) i try to click it and press alt-enter causing it to go from, minimized to fullscreen and vice-versa.

I have that problem too! I still dont' know how to fix it. I can't PQ because of it and sometimes it does that when I'm fighting monsters as well. I guess you could try right clicking the Maplestory icon and setting its compatibilities to Windows XP Service pack 3 or something? Or loading maple from the site instead?

Btw, I haven't started having these problems since I had to reinstall my OS and re-downloaded MS. (was on the last version, downloaded this patch)

That happened to me once when I hit alt+enter. But only once. Hopefully it doesn't happen anymore cause when it happened I thought my monitor broke again (earlier, like a month ago or so, one of my computer monitors burnt out). Btw I have Windows 7.

Alt+Enter makes the screen smaller if it is full screen. and if it is small screened and you hit alt+enter if makes it bigger

happens to me a couple times on windows 7... sometimes (5 times at least a day) maplestory randomly d/cs me and i have to log off and log on again to start maple

For those talking about alt+enter, I don't think she pushed it and I'm fairly certain I didn't push it, but I can test it right now and see what happens. Pressing the WINDOWS button (the one with the Windows logo) might have been what messed her up in Windows 7 and for me pulls up a menu and minimizes Maple in Windows Vista. I think it happened without me pressing Windows button too.
