Hey, this is one of my few posts on Basil although I browse it a lot. I also posted this on another Maplestory site just to try and find some answers. I just had a question and I am not trying to alarm anyone, but I do think you should heed what I have to say. My boyfriend was recently hacked a few hours ago today--he had been fine this morning. We logged on only to find him stripped of every nice equip he owned. He was a corsair but I doubt that makes a difference. He did have very nice equips although not all were finished. Here are the circumstances: We found no keyloggers, he does not visit hacking sites and has played normally for years. The only DIFFERENT thing he'd done recently is changed his password through the site, and that was all. His email had not been hacked nor password or PIC changed. His gun ( the best item ) pink adventure cape, and nice work glove had been taken. His overall was left and a few somewhat mediocre items. This happened within minutes of us having logged off. When we logged back in to transfer some things, he was stripped clean and moved from Leafre to Lith Harbor ( we did not know why.) My theory is that it has to do something with logging on the website and possibly changing your password. His password was very secure, and a combination of letters/numbers that he only copy/pasted into the website and into the game. Like I said, no keylogger was found either. The only people who have his info are me, and him and we are a "real life" couple. Since the only thing he did differently is change his password just for routine sake, I can only think that the hackers are somehow intercepting info when we log in on the site. Of course I can't prove this, I just want to know why this happened. I feel it's no coincidence that it occurred after changing his password and logging on the site recently. I don't mean to scare anyone, I would seriously not log on the site right now. We have both quit the game and uninstalled because of this as it would be impossible ( not to mention futile to rebuild ) if all we're going to do is keep getting hacked due to Nexon's failure to keep us safe. This reminds me oddly enough of the supposed "database hackings" that occured not too long ago. Thanks for reading this, and if you have any input for me on how this might have happened, I'd really appreciate it as I'm pretty baffled myself and it has been bothering me. -PunchaWoman EDIT To what I think happened: Not sure, but I'm fairly sure it's just a security exploit on Nexon's website that hackers took advantage of. I think passwords and information are able to be 'grabbed' from the website somehow. I do not know if it's another 'database breach' it is too soon to tell. I honestly just think it related to the website and POSSIBLY changing your passwords and messing with your account information on the website.That's all I have for my theory at the moment. are you sure u didn't get keylogged? that seems like the most logical explanation...CLICKING on a picture could get u key logged, like one of ur friend send u something with an attachment, and u opened the attachment, it could very well get u keylogged....

[/quote] Like I said, no keyloggers were found at all. We also don't click on suspicious pictures and as I'd like to think I'm somewhat computer knowledgeable I know that certain pictures do contain that.

it's called bruteforcing. it just might be the case since you could bruteforce on a high trafic site like maplestory and not get jailed or anything.
