How much atk on a shield do you need to surpass 2h sword, considering that the 1h sword and 2h sword are the same atk with no shield.

None... Attack shields are useless now. You'd need a potential-ed lv 80+ shield possibly scrolled with attack to be comparable.

I think there may be some factors which cause variation, but from what I've heard it's around 15.

Why not just check the attacks of the 1h ad 2h swords for the same level? Go math!

STR shields with %STR equips I think are best.

It also depends on your build as well. If you have a high str multiplier from % equips, you'd need a MASSIVE amount of att on the shield to compare to the two h sword (as the multiplier for 2 h swords as of now benefit a lot more from str/ att).

When the 2h and 1h are the same speed (i.e, most ST vs 1h calcs) then i'm told the attack difference to surpass it is 15% of your total attack (roughly) For differing speeds, naturally that %age falls.

the higher the level you get the better it is to have % str shields. and they are definitely cheaper then attack shields
PaperTowns : Why not just check the attacks of the 1h ad 2h swords for the same level? Go math!
There's a different formula for both? 100 atk lvl 100 2h sword>100 atk 1h sword
Baby600 : well the best is 20att but it still wont really equal it
Wrong. A CLEAN 12% str shield > a 20 att one (based entirely on other equips BUT on average it is better).

Ignoring potential abilities: (there is a simple formula, but I dont feel like finding it again) about 7-8 watt for a 1h sword to match an equal 2h. about 15-30 watt for a 1h sword to match a ST. (varies based on dex and what 1h you use (usually closer to 15 if you factor in dex and are using a reverse sword) With potential abilities, it will all depend on what other potential abilities you have. Without any other potential abilities, a 5% Str shield would be sufficient. However with a full set of potential abilities, you would need a much larger % str boost. With a full set of 10 6% str boosts, you would need at least a 8% str shield. When it comes to a ST vs another sword of equal watt, you would need a 9% str shield to match it. And with a full set of 10 9% Str, you would need 17% str shield.

And actually with % equips factored in, things have pretty much changed... Also back then a 15+ attack shield would usually factor out, although most end-game shields had 18-24+ attack. I upgraded my heroes % strs AND after upgrading for % strs as well as hearing from other hero friends that have done the same, 6% str = ROUGHLY 8-12 att DEPENDING on your build/ other equip stats (without %), % stats added from your equips, and overall attack.
