A Theory Regarding Scrolling

Over my experience with scrolling for the past couple of years, I have reached a conclusion on my research. I believe, that the moment a scroll "drops" or enters the world of Maplestory, it is already fated to work or fail. For example, every time Gaga gave you a nice pink scroll, it was already "predetermined" to work/fail. Ever heard those stories about "Perpetually Failing Duped Scrolls?" That probably has something to do with the farming process that automatically makes it FAIL. What do you think?

its funny because there is no way to tell, unless u hack game files,i still think that having a virtual die would be easier to program rather than having millions of failed and working scrolls circulatin

well if Nexon created scrolls then they would also determine the work/fail rate, right? I scrolled a 10% def on my armor, and ya know what, it worked. I scrolled a 70% and it BLEW UP

Only one way to find out. Get an item, scroll it with like a 60, hope for a rollback, scroll it again, see if its the same outcome.

I scrolled a 70% and it BLEW UP [/quote] That means nothing. You could still pass 7 10% and fail 3 70%s. It just means it's more likely to work/fail. |

i have thought of that and if i get too many 60%s to work in a row many would fail later on in a row it happened to me

there is a flaw in your experiment, there is no way to tell since u wouldnt know if its the predermined, or virtual dice system

They figured that it wasn't predetermined by the scroll a few years ago from looking at game files. When you use a scroll it sends a packet and a generator decides what to do with it. If anything it's not the scroll that has been decided but really your character. There's no way to predict what would happen though.

If that were true then there would be no need for percentiles on scrolls.

i doubt its predetermined. as a game programmer I know that they would always do the chance on the spot. they'd send it to a random generator and return the random number. then decide whether it worked or not.
