How does a claw work

I never understood how a claw worked. Does it like shoot out stars? How is it any different from throwing stars from your hand?

I'm gonna take a guess that it protects your hand when you throw stars? Not sure why its called a "claw" either. I'm starting to wonder how I ever got to NL...

@ 1st 2 posters, what about transparent claw, and shinobi bracer? they both let stars have contact with your hand O_O

Or maybe the claws have slots to put the stars in, and you can use a grip inside the claw have it eject more stars into your hand. Think Spiderman-ish type of a glove.

I'm guessing it's like a training weight so your throwing arm gets stronger. If this were an anime the Claw could be used as a defensive tool, and some claws are pointy so you could punch people. The Claw's weight also adds momentum to when you throw a star.

It's an ehancement to increase power in your flick when you throw. It has more weight and keeps your wrist stiff. Kind of like when people bowl and use wrist guards. It's also used to for close combat, and keeping your hand from being damaged.
