Which of the 2 is better? Ice Splitter does less damage but freezes them. Flamethrower does more damage but burns them. And you can probably kill the mob so fast that the burn isn't really needed. I can see why freezing would be good because if you're in a mob and want to get away, you can freeze em and just recoil away. I'm kinda pumped on making a gunslinger right now. I might just ditch my fighter o.o Maybe continue it when brandish becomes a 3rd job skill.

Id choose freeze, unless you are really funded and can do enough damage with flamthrower to kill the mobs you train on really fast. If not, freeze is a better choice because of freeze and its ability to stop the monsters

...your supposed to max both then macro it. (fire-ice-fire and ice-fire-ice) then you just repeat those at kents. that way you get elemental advantages on the flamethrower due to the freezing of ice splitter. its very efficient on kents. but of course thats just an alternative to newt sniping. (most boring thing in the world) at newt sniping you would use ice just to freeze them so they dont kill yah. EDIT:dont listen to the guy above......he doesnt know what hes talking about. its just a matter of which first. in which case its ice

Every time you use ice your dpm goes down or something like that...i heard a (more intelligent) Slinger say something like that. I still dont really understand much about that stuff. read one of the excellent guides i the gunslinger forum =)

Freeze is way too useful, but the problem is one alone isnt good at mob killing. You need BOTH for the macro of Ice>Fire, but get ice first since it helps at leafre, and other places near 70-90 One alone doesnt work cause it has some wierd cooldown, both when both are macroed it works really spammable. Dont try Ice>Fire>Ice, just keep Ice>Fire and keep spamming that.

I didn't really use flamethrower, and you're suppose to use ice splitter then flamethrower cause the freeze gives more damage to fire.

Freeze > Fire Fire/Ice combo is overrated and not worth it (the fire cancels out the freeze) and to fully take advantage of the damage you need ice and fire capsules. Without the capsules the damage is cut in half.

So using Ice splitter can make a mob temporarily ice-type and then flamethrower will have a fire-type boost? (No I'm not a pokemon nerd xD)

Don't max fire, it's good, but not good enough to take 4sp out of any other 4th job skill (assuming you get it to 26). It would be way better if it didn't cancel freeze, but it does, thus it's only good for low levels mobs, which you obviously won't train on at high levels.

[/quote] If you really want to do that, try fire>ice and don't spam it. That way your monsters will stay frozen after macro. Don't even think about training with those skills as a main attack without glaze/blaze capsules though...
