| And I thought to myself seriously? I mean don't take this the wrong way but America has no signature food.. Sure it has borrowed many foods and even made some better... but still.... In fact, I think so about American culture.... why is it that other places can be recognized for somethings while America is just a bunch of things mashed up together... By thing's that make it recognizable I mean, Mexico: sombreros, tacos? Japan: ... those clothes they wore?XD tables close to the floor? Just an example, but like I can't think of anything from the United States.... it doesn't have a national.... anything. Prove me wrong? :S |

|
Shrimp : Alright, that's good. But say, maybe.... someone from Oregon would be all "what's a cheesesteak?" (besides the obvious explanation the name provides). See what I mean? :O
you can probably find philly cheesesteaks in the frozen food aisle of your local grocery store, although those can't match the deliciousness of an authentic one |

| America IS old compared to many other countries, hell, the ones in Africa and Eastern Europe seem to pop up once every few decades. It might not be old compared to like, China or India, but give the guy a break.. He's not attacking America, he's just saying that it's culture isn't distinctive due to all the influences on it from other cultures. I don't personally think that's true, but I don't find that particularly offensive either. I mean, America IS known as the melting pot, right? Stuff I think is American: The Superbowl (American football was created in either Harvard and Yale, but differs significantly from rugby), Mcdonalds (even though it's an international corporations), American Thanksgiving (and how it's such a huge deal, more so than even Christmas), and manifest destiny |

| We have plenty of stuff what are you talking about? Football? That's most of our culture. Thanksgiving? I'm not sure if european cultures or japanese/chinese celebrate thanksgiving. Uhm. Yea. Football and that stuff are all that I can think about, but we are more active and busied up in our days. We're industrius. Why do we need a "culture" When we have all the worlds cultures right at our hands? @above. I couldnt, agree. More. |
