What pokemon should i keep on my team?

So I just started a new game on Heartgold today and am trying decide which combination of these pokemon should be on my future team. Canidates: Onix(evolve to steelix) Seadra Hitmonlee Girafrig Ampharos Magneton Vileplume (status healer) Flygon (or dragonite) Heracross (if i can find one when i get headbutt) EDIT: I'm open to suggestions for other pokemon that would be good so suggest away.

Get rid of Magneton and use Ampharos as your electric pokemon.

And you would use a status healer? This isn't maplestory.... just buy some full heals and all that. Put a starter in there, they're ridiculously more powerful then the lot you have down.

I would personally say seadra,dragonite,ampharos and vileplume. Not quite sure about the rest :V

Onix and Steelix are usually not very good pokemons to place on a team. While their defenses are superb, their weaknesses and their fail Sp. Def deems them unworthy. If I were you and only given those pokemon, and if I'm only going for defeating the Elite 4 (Not competitive wifi battling): Seadra (Try to evolve it, it makes all the difference in the world) Hitmonlee Heracross (If you know what EVs are, EV it for speed. At least try) Ampharos (Same as Heracross) Vileplume (Must learn Giga/Mega Drain) Dragonite (Make sure he can pack a heavy punch)

[/quote] you can find one by surfing in the dragon's den in blackthorn, and if you people have suggestions for other pokemon go for it, I'm open to suggestions. I have a female cydaquil which i chose to quickly beat the first to gyms :d i don't really like cyndaquil's last form thus why i dont use it, i like meganium but it's kinda weak, and i hate totodile's line altogether. So yea keep the suggestions coming.
