Why is Starcraft 2 so expensive?

Be happy, it's like $100~120 in Australia for a new released game on ps3 and 360. (Sometimes pc too)....

PC games are almost always $50 new since.....before PS2-era. It was only the console games that suddenly jumped up $10 when the 360 came out. PCs are still generally 50. 99% of them are. The only ones I can think of that aren't are run by horrible companies (probably the publisher). Those games are: Assassin's Creed 2 (lol @ their failed anti-piracy), MW2 (lol @ no dedicated servers), and SC2 (...lol @ the expansions?) Suddenly some companies think they can just bump the price of their games up and nobody will care. That and/or they think people will just buy it anyways no matter the price. Sad sad day. This won't affect SC2 because of the rabid blizzard fanboys though -_- And before somebody flames me about how "awesome" the game is - Yes it's a good game from what I've played (beta) but no game is suddenly above the normal price just 'because they can'. Would anybody care if certain hyped-up games on the 360/PS3 were suddenly $70?

If they're releasing new units (skins, models. animations), dialogue, maps, it's going to cost much more than 5 dollars. I'm predicting 40 USD if we're lucky.

umm... every new game is 60 dollars. xbox, ps3, and pc. And i agree, if you look at starcraft 2 it should be way higher. IMO it should be over a hundred dollars.

Regardless of the price, people will buy it: hence it being one of the most anticipated games of the decade. EDIT: Expansions are going to sell for $60 as stand-alone packs. And each pack contains about 30+ missions for each race... Heck of a a long story.

That's only one game of the Starcraft II trilogy. WoL ( Wings of Liberty ) is the base game. Hofs ( Heart of the swarm ) and Lotv ( Legacy of the void ) are expansion sets that you are probably going to have to buy.

ItFor a lot of people that would be working for like 4 hours to earn 60 dollars, and they consider it a lot, But too somebody who gets all their money from their mom it's reasonable. Weird, Huh?

Starcraft 2? 60 dollars? almost all games are that expensive, go look at xbox 360 games some of them arent even that good, and they're almost as expensive 60 dollars is a pretty good deal, though it's only one campaign. =/ Plus, all the cheap idiots living near me are probably just gonna torrent or pirate it or something, so -.-
