Bass or Electric guitar?

Hi everyone!~ So I'm deciding whether to get an Electric guitar or a bass. I like both of them >< I've been playing Classical guitar for some time now and I wanted to get an electric instrument for once. I like the sound of the bass lines and I also like the sound of an electric guitar. I was wondering which instrument would be easier and would be better to get first. Sometimes, I think that the bass is too quiet and doesn't stand out much. As if it wasn't really needed in the band. On the other hand, the electric is almost like my Classical guitar and maybe even easier to play. (If I had to rate myself, I'll say that I'm "ok" at guitar. But the major, minor, pentatonic, etc. scales kinda mixes me up a lot @_@ and I haven't really learned them all yet) I'm going to read the comments tomorrow morning. Suggestions are really appreciated! Thank you!

IMO, Bass is boring to play and guitar is more fun, with faster solos etc.

I like guitar better, but you need a lot more skill to play it because it needs to be fast and accurate playing, if you get it I'm sure you'll master it with the time.

I started out with bass guitar first cause my friend was gonna play guitar but he ended up quitting after a few months so i took up the guitar. I play the double bass in my schools orchestra now and about the scale stuff, you should familiarize yourself with the sound of how each scale sounds so when your trying to come up with solos/improvise it becomes easier. I like guitar more because it just sounds so cool haha so I guess i'll have to say go with the guitar =D

What type of player do you feel you are? Are you more of a rhythm player, or an 'out in front' player? Although you may not think you hear the bass in a lot of songs, you would notice if it wasn't there. One of my old bands would practice without one member of the band (rotating who got left out each time) when we had a show coming up. Wow~ Thanks everyone xD I was also leaning more towards Electric guitar. Since my friend said she wanted to learn the electric, she told me to get a bass instead. But I think the electric is much more suited for me :3

If you start playing bass and you get to a decent enough level everyone will want to play with you. Search songs by a band named Rush, go check up most of the cool Metallica songs (yeah, they have some awesome bass lines), check out Tetsuo Sakurai play the bass, ever seen Victor Wooten, Marcus Miller play the bass? The bass is really an awesome instrument that has more room to put feeling into it (oh yeah almost forgot! definitly google Zander Zon, one of the best young bass players bro). And even if you choose guitar, that�s cool, but... You wont be cool enough (Also being a bass player everyone will want to play with you and getting a band will be milesways easier).

Gah~ I'm not sure what to get anymore @_@ My mom doesn't like the idea of me getting an electric because she says I'm not pro at the Classical guitar yet. I try telling her that Classical is harder to play but she's stubborn. She's just saying that because she wants me to learn piano instead... I saw those big boxes saying that it comes with a guitar and an amp :3 Since I only have about 200$, I'm thinking about getting one of those. I'm still thinking between Bass and Electric but leaning more towards electric right now. If I get one, I have to play something for my mom so she won't say it's a waste of money... (Maybe something more impressive idk @_@)

Bass Guitar. Electric is WAYYY overated. Pros and Cons going bass Pros 1) Its cheaper for higher quality amps and stuff 2) Its ALOT easier to get into a band. 3) Its not that difficult to be a good bassist BUT you can go better. 4) People depend on you. You are way more important than a guitarist. 5) You wont look like a poser since EVERYONE is a "guitarist" 6) Bass Groove > Guitar solos (Nuff said) 7) You wont look like a show off doing guitar solos all the time. 8) Other stuff Cons 1) Over shadowed by guitarist 2) Harder to play than the guitar. Strings are harder to press down on, fret board is bigger, guitar is heavier and they expect you to play around the same speed as the guitarist. 3) People think you suck cause they think its easy to be a bassist. 4) Other stuff. 2)
