Any PSP users want to help me out?

So I'm gonna be getting a PSP. I was wondering if anyone could explain some things to me. 1. What's the difference between a PSP 1000, PSP 2000, and PSP 3000 (Also, what's the difference between 1000 and 1001, etc.?) 2. What is the firmware (I have no clue what that means), do I have to continually update it? 3. What are the necessary parts for a PSP for it to fully function (Basically all I need is a PSP/charger...do I need the headphones/USB thing?) 4. Do I play games on the small discs or do I save them on the memory card thing? 5. Say I were to "mod" my PSP, could I potentially download games? Extra: What are some good PSP games Sorry if all of this was really confusing! My friend told me a bunch of technical stuff like modding and firmware...hope you guys could help clear things up! 1. Newer versions = more features 2. Ya, you update firmware. 3. Headphones help, but all you need is the psp, charger, and game. 4. Small discs 5. You can get any game.

1. only difference really is for hacking. 2. same thing as point one 3. any headphones work for psps, and USB's come with them 4. small disks if you get an old version, memory card for that new mini psp 5. modding is downloading games

What do you mean by more features? I heard 3000 is slim and 1000 is fat? Thanks for the info above I might be getting a used one from my friend and he doesnt have all the cables so...and how would I mod a PSP?

1000 is fat, 2000 is slimmer, 3000 is slimer with a built in microphone

Hey, I think PSP is AWESOME. Not sure about the different versions of the handheld console, but the firmware is updated as it goes along. For the PSP to fully function, all you need really is the charger. Headphones and USB connectors are just attachments. The games are really small discs inside a white case. NEVER take out the disc. Just insert the white case(with the disc inside) and play. My three favorite games are Final Fantasy:Crisis Core, Resistance:Retribution, God of War:Chains of Olympus. Also, it can browse the internet(in case you didn't know) Enjoy your psp

also: the psp 3000 can download games onto it, i dont know if the 1000 and 2000 also can but i cant imagine why not. you justn eed to buy a good memory card.

yessir modding is illegal. na fatter psp has a longer lasting battery but doesnt matter if you have a charger really

For downloading games on the 3000, do you have to pay money? malapo thanks for that in depth comparison! Looks like the PSP 1000 is better O: @ FullMetal I would prefer a longer battery life (The 1000 and 2000's sizes don't seem to be that much of a difference)

Honestly, I'd pick Psp Phat 1000 and Psp Slim 2000 Anyday [: Since Custom Firmwares are out for them, And for the Newer Psp's Downloading games are a hassle, when you can spend 2-3 minutes at the store buying em. 3000's are just basically the same as 2000's
