| I know that comcast is much more expensive than other ISP's, and is generally advertised as the fastest internet. While when I run my internet off of comcast it is complete crap. It takes 20~30 seconds to start up firefox and about 10 seconds to load anytype of webpage. I'm on a wired ethernet connection, although my house does have wireless and it is connected off of the same router as the wired ethernet connection i am currently on. My brother one room over can't even browse the web at the moment because it literally take him 10 minutes to load a page, while playing xbox i always have the worst connection. So my question is how can i resolve my current web crisis :P? or should i get a new ISP? if so please suggest a provider, cost is not an issue i really just want a good connection for my entire house, along with the rest of my family who rely on this internet connection for my parents buisness. P.S. - I did one of those broadband speed tests and im at 88 Mbps, i know this is not awful, but its certainly not good and considered pretty slow, and my dads laptops clock in at 30 mbps, our internet hasn't always been this awful but it has always been very slow and I would like to know the reason all help is appreciated and i apologize for bad grammar/spelling/paragraph set up cause im writing this off my iphone :P im out 2 dinner with my family and we were all just discussing what poop our internet is, once again all help is greatlly appreciated :D |

| Get timewarner cable it's pretty decent imo. or atnt internet is good as well. timewarner cable idk how fast it is but i cna be about 40 ft away and still be nonlaggin on anything. evenw ehn i'm in my room my connections are still best and that's upstairs away from the office. soo if i had a choice i'd reccomend timewarner cable. above google chrome eats ur virtual memory alive. if you don't have a decent computer. |

| It's just you. Btw if you pay for the slowest comcast line, they'll give you more than what you pay for. Google chrome is slower than all the other browsers. Google chrome supposedly doesn't close the whole browser if 1 tab crashes. That's because it's just a bunch of separate windows compressed into 1. |

| 88Mb per second not good?... not good?... You have no clue what your talking about. The bottle neck here is not comcast, its you and your computers and possibly your router. 88Mb is absolutly amazing You could stream 4/5 uncompressed blue rays at the same time you could stream 15 uncompressed DVDs at the same time You could Download a gigabyte file 93 seconds. 93 SECONDS. |

|
LonePiggie : Fire fox is horrible. Get google chrome.
Switching browsers has nothing to do with Internet connection speed. Google Chrome is indeed faster, but not a solution to his problem. Firefox is also a huge memory hog, about as much or even more than Chrome. The speed of Firefox at start-up may also depend on your computer itself. It depends on the add-ons you have installed, and also what other processes you may be running. Either way, best thing to do is switch ISP or to a different plan or do a virus scan . I don't know where you did your test from that says 88 MB/s, but that is pretty darn fast and it shouldn't take 10 seconds to load a page. It depends on what is offered in your area, and since I don't know where you live, that is something you may have to figure out yourself. I know that Comcast isn't offered in my area, although I've heard generally they don't have very good customer service. |

| well comcast ive heard isn't the best but if u get 88mbps thats amazing i get 14-18 that gives me like 1.2-1.5 mBps on downloads so your isp isn't doing anything i would check your router and make sure the ports are in order or try a different one if possible. edit* ddnt see the post above me sorry for saying the same thing |

| Yeah 88mb is crazy. With att I was getting about 8, with comcast I get 18, over 20 sometimes. They cost about the same, 15 cent difference. |

| 88Mbp....how is that not good? thats awesome... either what you used to tell you that is wrong or your computers are really screwed up and need to be scanned and fixed because if youre REALLY getting that in internet and it takes that long to load a page your comp is PACKED with viruses and stuff.... if you really want to swtich providers see if you can get verizon fios where you are... its really good.. takes like 2 seconds or less for me to load a page... and maple loads super fast... what ever you do do not get time warner though worst ever! att is pretty decent... but i perfer verizon.. i pay like 150 per month for 5 tv cable boxes and phone and internet with them... i think its like... 30ish for just internet...and like 80 for 3 tv's phone and net... they add on more for each tv....(those might not be exact prices but its pretty close and i think it depends where you live too idk o.0) anyways hope that helps in some way definatly scan your comps though with a virus protection thing.... I dont think what ever you used to read the mbp's are right though because one shouldnt be getting 88 and the other 30.... doesnt sound right... should be gerenally the same... |
