The cons of being a Hybrid DK?

I got to level 65 during the event today, ending my total SP with a whopping 32. I wasnt sure what to do with it. I decided that at 5 levels away from my job advancement, it was a waste of time to put it in Final Attack, but I never really planned on using a Pole Arm either. So I decided to just become a Hybrid. Any cons I should have thought about or current comments on being Hybrid? Should I be worried about the possibility of "The Big Bang" update messing anything up for me?

Despite the fact that I have little-to-no intentions of using a Pole Arm....ever? My soul spear will last me till level I near 4th job most likely.

You lose no useful skills by going hybrid, and gain better variety of attacks. And you should reconsider with the spear, a Karstan will be cheap and take you through 80-110 so much quicker (2-3x faster probably)

what mancartia said. Although I'd like to emphazise on the fact that polearms are SO MUCH BETTER for training during 3rd job. At least twice as fast as spears IMO. All the training spots are mobby.

yeah dawg polearms are the business in 3rd you'd prolly level faster with a 100% karstan than a perfect soul spear

As has been pointed out, polearms are the way to go in third job. Get a flat 100%'ed karstan (92 attack for the win baby!), and put your first few third job points into Fury. You'll see what we mean; It's Slash Blast, but twice the range, with excellent stability, fast attack, and great mob control. And since up till about 130 you're going to be training at places where it's just pure massive mobs, those are all features you should be after. But even if you never ever look at using a polearm, hybrid is the way to go. As you noticed at the end of third job, you had enough SP to go hybrid anyway. Something similar happens if you avoid the crappy skills in third - dragon blood is inferior to Warrior Elixirs (at least till BigBang, when we get a full SP reset), Sacrifice is a straight up terrible move (ditto this), and Power Crash has one use, ever, in the whole game. This will leave you maxing Spear Crusher/Fury, Dragon Roar, and Elemental Resist, with 38 SP remaining. Polearm Fury and 3 blood/5 crash is a nice way to round out the end of third job... but those Polearm Fury points will get you through third job that much faster, meaning you get to drk sooner, and can really rock out with the spears you wanted to use in the first place. With regard to BigBang; They got a full SP reset, we should too. Nothing you do now matters post-BigBang because of this.

Its a good thing others have responded with specific answer because I am way too distracted by your awesome hair. My friends insists that hybrid is useless... but what does he know? He's always been a mage and hates warriors >_> I fully regretted going pure Spear when I knew full well I could have went hybrid. Mind you, this was pre- aran and PA scrolls were pretty low.... TBH, you just get the best of both worlds when you go hybrid.

No they don't Dan, because you make fun of everyone for no reason whatsoever. Show some respect, and then you can complain that newbies aren't showing you any.

[/quote] You upgrade your polearm skills now. By the end of 2nd job, you should have max spear and polearm booster, and spear and polearm mastery (mastery always comes first) as well as HB. Then in 3rd job, you get a polearm and fury train with it. |
