Can a girl and a guy only stay as GOOD friends?

this question was brought up to me and i would have to say no. maybe just friends, but never best/close/good friends because they would eventually fall for one another. your thoughts?

Yes, my best friend is a guy and we have been friends for years. We have very different romantic interests though (I mean, obviously in terms of gender, but he goes for a type that's totally not me and vice versa). My fiance also has a best friend who's a girl.

to Eeveepony and RESHIRAM: so out of curiosity, how would you two feel if your close friend ended up dating up another person? and what about your guy friend, how would he feel if you were to date someone else? and if this scenario had been true, how would your friendship end up like?

Personally, I relate better to guys and get along better with them, so have a few close ones, but none of them I would date. I see them more as brothers than anything else, so I think you can be good friends with people of the opposite gender.

[/quote] i give him advice about relationships, he tells me about girls he has interest in. i encourage him to do what he wants, there's not much to it. he's friends with my ex, i'm sure they've talked about me and stuff when my ex and i were together. we've been friends for 5 years or so.
