Why is this happening to my computer?

Every time I run maple on my computer, the fan just starts spinning really fast and it sounds loud. This wasn't happening previously. I've had it for about a year and it's one of the new vistas. Specs: Intel Core 2 Quad Processor 4 GB RAM 64-bit Really, why has this been happening a lot lately?

Open up your desktop computer, get some compressed air and blow out the dust inside. If it's a laptop, well, that's trickier. Better to contact your manufacturer or find a nearby computer store who can clean and repair it for you, which of course they will most likely charge at a price.

Your case and fans may be covered in dust, which decreases airflow. Lower airflow leads to your fans working extra hard, which makes them noisier. Like above said, take some compressed air and blow out the dust inside. You could use a vacuum cleaner as well, but that increases the risk of static discharge which could potentially damage your computer.

That's not what you want to used. You want to used a can full of compress AIR not something that I usually used to free up a rusted bolt and such. This is what you want: http://www.amazon.com/Compressed-Air-Duster-oz-Can/dp/B001CXWMRI Which you can also get at Walmart, Target, Bestbuy, etc.

I blew the dust out with a blow dryer (not the typical one, the big one used to clean cars). The fan seems to be spinning normal now. Thanks everyone . :D Edit: The fan is working hard again,....but not as hard as it was before. Maybe it's maple doing this? For some reason, maple takes a lot of memory on comps...

Take a look at the heatsink around and below the fan in the middle of the motherboard- see if you can see any dust jammed down between the fins. The problem with using compressed air is that it may actually force dust deeper between the fins, where it acts as an insulating blanket keeping the CPU nice and warm- which is a BAD thing. If you see clogs of dust you can use a fine watercolor paint brush to brush out the fins, or use a long thin tweezers to pull the dust bunnies out. (Be careful of course and be sure the computer is unplugged from the wall outlet before doing this.) Also, if you have a separate video card, be sure to look closely at the fan on the bottom side of the card because those build up a lot of dust (and a lot of heat) too.

It's actually not being too noisy right now and i can't do the process atm because I'm tired and Idk I can find the brush. So, I'll have to deal with it later. Thanks~
