Help with computer buying please

I have 600 bucks left since I quit my job & my computer just crapped out. So I've never built a computer or anything can you guys help me pick out a desktop from newegg or ibuypower or something that is optimized to the greatest potential for around 550-600 USD. Please and thanks If you guys could help that'd be cool.

As much as I love building computers and talking about building computers and other people building computers, if you've quit your job, don't you think maybe you'd have a better use for $600 than a new computer..? When you say your old one "crapped out", what exactly does that mean..? I guess if you really, really want to build a new one, that's your choice, but most "repairs" on an existing system can be done for a lot less.

[/quote] Well it's just a HP cost like 1000 bucks in 2005 or so. I added a graphics card and has 2 gigs of ram. But I think the card shorted out my power supply even though it wasn't a great card my PSU is only like 300W. Anyways I've just had trouble with the comp paying over 150 in repairs where these idiots scammed me and said the motherboard died and what not, then the hard drive another 80 bucks from someone else who fixed it. The processor is out of date and couldn't handle everything either. But I quit my job on purpose & I'm fine I'll have one in walking distance soon enough. Just want a computer back while I'm stuck at home you know. I wanna be able to play star craft 2 and D3 when they come out as well as MW2 and some FPS. If that's possible in under 600 bones that'd be cool if you could help.

Just so I can get an idea EDIT: Also I found an AMD Athlon II X2 Processor running at 3.2 GHz, that seems pretty fast cause this computer I'm using is quad core but the cores are only at 2.4GHz. But anyways it's 75 bucks for it and they will give you MW2. So I'm like dang 25 bucks for that seems like a good deal, is that good enough though?

[/quote] For smooth and "high quality", it'd obviously be anything with a better CPU and graphics card than that at a higher cost. What are the specs of your current computer? (Start > Run > type in dxdiag for XP, Start > Start Search, type in dxdiag. Mainly the CPU, RAM, graphics card.) Getting that deal is completely pointless if you do not have the required specifications to play MW2. (Plus, you have a quad-core, just because that processor has 0.8 Ghz more does not mean faster.)

[/quote] I'm using my roomates computer right now Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40 GHz 3582 MB RAM NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX I spent a while on newegg actually and I'm gonna save a bit more money up for what I picked out. Whether the parts are compatible or not, I think they are but not so sure cause it's my first time. But it's the quality I'm shooting for and let me know if I'm missing something please.
