How do i convince my dad for a new computer?

The computer i use is from 2001 and its dieing but my dad thinks its "lightning fast." Some FPs games(combat arms,A.V.A,etc)lag when i just shoot the gun. Hell i get major lag spikes in maplestory which make certain things(Jqs specifically)almost impossible. What can i do other then showing him cheap and better computers and giving him reasons for a new computer? P.S. I even said id throw in 200$ if he got a new one(talking to him about a 1k$ comp.)

I forgot about ram, but he should have at least a 300w PSU from his old comp, which is enough to run this.

[/quote] PSUs lose efficiency with age like with any other hardware. It's probably better to just get another PSU.

[/quote] There's not need to have 3 fans if you're just using a GT240 and a Athlon II in the first place; it's just all the more dust you'll be cleaning out later. Dude, you are too spoiled. You can clean your computer and make it faster. try Disk defragmenter and Disk cleanup Then download Glary Utilities (google it) Then go to computer preferences and go to performance. Uncheck all the boxes that you don't really need. I would uncheck all of them except the last one. That should speed it up a lot. You shouldn't play FPS games unless you have a good enough computer. Which case you can just install a better video graphics card into your CPU.
