Anime Vs American Cartoons

Anyone that says one is better than the other is stupid. The only difference is the country they came from. You can't say "Anime > American cartoons" Unless you can say you've seen every anime and cartoon to ever exist. EDIT: This isn't about what you prefer. I'm directing this towards those weeaboos that say "YOU BAKKA HEAD! AMERICAN CARTOONS ARE A LOAD OF DOG S***! :3 GIMME THAT POCKYYYYYY"

Most of American Cartoons are slap stick comedies . And although Anime has slap stick, it doesn't necessarily rely on sex, violence or racism to make a joke.

I really have to defend Japanese animation. I'm not saying that it is better than cartoons from America, but there are MANY differences between the two other than just the country. You see the main difference between the American entertainment media and the Japanese entertainment media is that the America has ALOT more money for their shows than Japan. I mean, when you really think about it, there are more television shows with actors and storylines here in America as opposed to Japan. America only tends to see animated shows as either A. for children, or B. for comedy. Japan on the other hand, they don't have (or at least at the time) the funding for actors, studios, settings, or anything else for live-action television shows. So the way they make it up is in the cheapest yet most artistic form, animated shows in their own style. The large majority of television shows in Japan is anime, unlike in America where its almost nothing but live-action shows and "reality" shows. Because Japan has ALOT more animated shows than America, it also increases the variety. Unlike the American perspective where animated shows have to fit a particular genre of children's action or comedy, there are many different categories of anime that can be for ANY person no matter what the age. Where even the action stories of DC and Marvel comics tend to target the child demographic, stories of animated series are meant to be targetted to ALL generations. When I ask you this question, really think about it when you are watching Disney, or Nickelodeon, or Cartoon Network (including AS), or any saturday morning cartoon show. Do you see any American cartoon with such an in depth storyline as Bleach?

Cartoons are usually about humor and most are directed at children. Anime are usually more serious and are aimed at older audiences(teens), and may include action and etc. Also the art style is different.

cartoons these days suck, there were some excellent ones but now the best cartoons are really only Decent Whereas Anime is Simply Awesome - yeah the filler in some Animes are very annoying but thats just like how family guy MOST of the time has clips that have little to nothing to do with the plot

I love both cartoons and anime. :D Cartoons make memories as a kid, and anime is just really interesting to watch. Most animes have a storyline to follow, which I like. Cartoons are funny and interesting, even though most of them don't follow a storyline. Art-wise, I love how humorous and exaggerated cartoons are. Anime is just pure eye candy. Minus the faces and hair, anime is somewhat drawn realistically. The random face expressions are the best, lol. xD

I hate the Drawing style in Anime. The giant heads when they are angrily scolding, blue fuzzy backround when they are moving fast, and that giant sweatdrop that appears to the side of the characters head. well in fact I dont watch that much cartoons ether....The ones nowadays are spit out so fast and die just as quick.
